A Limited Art Book Edition of the upcoming Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD re-release has been announced.

This special edition will only be available if you pre-order it for the PlayStation 3. It will come with an exclusive 24-page art book with original concept art and commentary from the development team. A special message from director Yoshinori Kitase will also introduce the new release.

Sony has also posted a new video comparing the visual quality of the HD remake to the original 2001 game, which you can watch below.

Recently, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 HD director Yoshinori Kitase also revealed that the game will support save transfers between the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of the game. Unfortunately, unlike the PlayStation 3 version, the PS Vita re-releases will not be bundled and must be purchased separately.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD was originally announced during the Tokyo Game Show in 2011. Since then, Square Enix has remained surprisingly quiet on what new features would be added to this re-release. Despite the company's silence, rumors are currently circulating that the release may contain an exclusive new cut scene.

The original Final Fantasy X was released in 2001, followed by the sequel in 2003, making it the first Final Fantasy game ever to have a direct game sequel. Final Fantasy X also broke new ground by using a third-person camera to navigate the character, and by integrating the world and town maps. In terms of gameplay, the title changed things up by introducing the Conditional Turn-Based Battle system, replacing the Active Time Battle system that the Final Fantasy series had become known for after the fourth installment.

The game is set in the world of Spira and centers around a character named Tidus in the aftermath of his city's destruction. It was released to significant critical acclaim, and set the record for the fastest-selling console RPG.
