A new still for Alfonso Cuaron's upcoming Science Fiction film "Gravity" was revealed.
USA Today exposed the first official picture. The image featured Sandra Bullock floating in a spacecraft before tumbling into outer space. The news source also had the first insight from director Alfonso Cuaron and producer David Heyman. Cuaron revealed that he wanted to shoot the film as if there was no gravity. He stated, "We wanted to shoot the whole film showing zero gravity with the actors moving in a choreographic way. This has never been done before. It was a journey of learning. But it looks pretty darn good. Indeed, though there's something very depressing about it all as well."
Heyman also praised Bullock for her performance and her work effort. He stated, "Sandra had to be in tremendous shape for this kind of filming."
Cuaron also spoke highly of the actress and stated, "She's confronted with the idea that Earth is so far away. She can see the whole Earth and she doesn't belong to it. What is really scary for people is being lost or alone in the immensity of the void."
"Gravity" is one of the most highly anticipated films of the year and one that many have already called groundbreaking. A few months ago Guillermo del Toro said that the film was one of the most visually arresting films ever made while George Clooney said he had never seen anything like it.
Cuaron and Heyman recently revealed that James Cameron helped the duo with special effects technology in which they needed elaborate wire work and a 9-foot cube constructed for the production.
The film tells the story of two Astronauts who attempt to return to Earth after debris crashes into their space shuttle, leaving them drifting alone in orbit.
"Gravity" opens at the Venice Film Festival on August 28th and later opens nationwide on October 4. The film will also hit Comic-Con where Bullock, Heyman and Cuaron will show footage from the movie.
