The Mega Millions lottery jackpot continues to soar as the prize hits $79 million in tonight's draw. So far, the millions of people joining the lotto could take home $79 M through an annuity option, paid over a period of 26 years; or bag a whopping $55 million in cash. So if you're one of those betters, better read on.

According to the Mega Millions website, while the multi-million pot prize was not won in Wednesday's drawing, four winners were able to hit five winning numbers to win $250,000, while 23 betters were able to sink four winning numbers and the Mega Million number to take home $10,000.

The Examiner also noted that out of the four second-tier winners, one was from New Jersey. According to New Jersey Lottery executive Director Carole Hedinger, the $250,000-winner purchased the winning ticket from Passaic County at Shopper's Paradise, 1473 Route 23 So., Wayne.

Two third-tier winners also came from NJ.

According to the Mega Millions site, there is 1 in 175,711,536 chance of hitting all six winning numbers for the jackpot.

The next draw is scheduled for July 5, 2013 at 11 p.m. Draws are aired on WSB-TV in Atlanta.
