UFC News 2013: Dana White Arranging Superfight Between Anderson Silva and Roy Jones Jr.

Reigning UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva dismissed a superfight against fellow UFC titleholders Jon Jones and George St. Pierre, insisting the only thing that would enhance his legacy at this point would be fighting former light heavyweight champion Roy Jones Jr.

Silva, who's scheduled to defend his middleweight crown against undefeated contender Chris Weidman, feels he has nothing to prove after demolishing every opponent that came his way.

"From a professional point of view, my goals have already been accomplished," Silva told MMAjunkie.com on Wednesday. "I don't see any greater challenges in my career. I simply seek to be a better human being every day. I try to set a good example to those around me. That's what's most important to me."

Since joining the UFC in 2006, Silva has gone undefeated in 16 fights and defended the middleweight belt 10 times during that seven year span.

Many MMA followers prodded Silva to take his game to another level by fighting either light heavyweight champion Jon Jones or welterweight titlist George St-Pierre, but to no avail. The suggested superfight never turned into a reality.

"A fight with Jon Jones, with St-Pierre or even with Weidman won't change anything. The past has been written already," said Silva, who boasts a 33-4 MMA record.

However, Silva is interested in fighting someone who has accomplished greater feats during his career, although, in a different combat sport. Silva, the undisputed king of the UFC, is salivating for a showdown with Jones Jr.

"I believe a fight against Roy Jones Jr. would be much better," Silva said during this week's press conference leading up to Sunday's middleweight clash.

UFC President Dana White said he's now talking with Jones about a possible date inside the ring between the two proud champions. White also said that Jones will be coming to watch Silva's fight on Sunday.

"Roy Jones Jr. is coming to the fight," White told MMAjunkie.com, "Roy and I are talking."

There's no certainty if the fight between Silva and Jones is going to happen, but one thing is for sure: this bout will be an interesting one to watch.
