For those of you anxious to see how the third season of "Suits" cleans up the mess left behind after the previous two, you're in luck. There's plenty at stake moving into the new season, and certain details from the set are providing fans with the insight they need in anticipation of the approaching premiere.

Sarah Rafferty, who plays Donna on the show, recently opened up to TV Fanatic about what fans can look forward to in season 3.

"What's great about this season is that now after that was established in season 1 and season 2, we just dig deeper into their personal lives," Rafferty said while discussing the aftermath of the merger and how it affected the characters' relationship to one another.

On that note, while Rachel and Donna have secured their relationship, Donna and Mike's is still on the rocks in the wake of his decision to back Jessica with the merger.

"[He's] really in the penalty box [with Donna]," Rafferty said. At the onset of season 3, Donna will be brushing off most of what Mike has to say after what he did to Harvey. She has to make it apparent that she's on his side and that's going to prove difficult for her.

And that's not all. While Donna responds to the merger, "she's really got her hands full as a result... A British Harvey comes to town and that makes her life busy."

And what about the relationship between Harvey and Donna? "It's like they had some past life together. They just get each other," Rafferty said. "Donna [is also] the person who kind of holds the mirror up for Harvey... she's always on the same page with him, but is the first person to tell it like it is when Harvey's off track."

There's plenty more on the horizon as the season 3 premiere approaches, which will air July 16 on USA Network.
