CBS' version of the classic Sherlock Holmes narrative in its one-hour drama "Elementary" has captivated viewers with its interesting plot twists and character developments. After just one season of the show, which features a female Watson portrayed by actress Lucy Lui, fans are clamoring for details of the show's second installment.

So far, we know that the show's second season will open up with Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan (Lui) heading to London to revisit an old case of Sherlock's. The networked teased that the trip would allow Joan to learn "more about Holmes' mysterious life and the company he kept before he left for New York." Joan will also get to meet Sherlock's brother Mycroft Holmes (guest recurring star Rhys Ifans).

But while fans may be excited for what's ahead for the detective duo, they're still wondering what will happen to Sherlock's former lover Irene Adler (guest star Natalie Dormer), who Sherlock discovered was actually his nemesis Moriarty. While she was arrested and locked up in the season finale, will there be more to see of Irene/Moriarty?

According to Entertainment Weekly, Dormer said she "couldn't possible comment" on the possibility of rejoining the cast as Irene Adler/Moriarty. However, she added, "I'm sure it would take more than that to hold Moriarty in a jail cell, if I had to speculate."

Dormer, who is known for playing conniving characters, also commented on theories that Irene isn't Moriarty at all. "This is the gift of the show, right? That there's so much you can do with the formula, and the bluffing, and the double bluffing, and the triple bluffing. So who knows? And to be honest, honey, I'd be the last to know," Dormer told EW.

Looks like fans will have to wait and see.

"Elementary" returns for its second season on Thursday, September 26.
