The Trustees of Boston University have filed a lawsuit against Apple Inc. over an alleged patent infringement.
The lawsuit request the federal courts to ban a series of Apple products including the MacBook Air, iPad, and iPhone 5 over the user of a professor's patent in 1997. In addition to bans, Boston University is seeking profits from the Cupertino-based organization.

Boston University's trustees claim Apple infringed on Professor Theodore D. Moustakas, Ph.D, who is credited on inventing the "Highly Insulating Monocrystalline Gallium Nitride Thin Films,"
"[Apple] regularly and deliberately engaged in and continues to engage in activities that result in using, selling, offering for sale, and/or importing infringing products in and/or into the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and this judicial district," noted the plaintiffs.
The University further requests a trial by jury.
The lawsuit is the latest for Apple to battle as it deals with the ongoing patent trials with Samsung and the ITC's ruling to ban the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPad 2.
