The members of SAMCRO continue to ride through the summer toward the sixth season of "Son of Anarchy." In preparation for its return, the show's cast and crew have been generous enough to take the time out of their busy schedules to share some insight into the characters' futures.

As for Clay, it's clear that he's crossed the line of possible redemption. He repeatedly mistreats the members of SAMCRO. His misjudgements and betrayals stem back to the beginning. Think back when he put a hit out on Opie in a simple misunderstanding that resulted in the murder of Opie's innocent wife. Showrunner Kurt Sutter couldn't agree more.

"Absolutely. And it is always interesting when a character crosses that line and then tries to buy his way back from there and can't because he has passed that point," Sutter said during an interview with Deadline. "I think that happened by Vic Mackey in 'The Shield.' By the end of that show, he crossed that point and while you still liked the dude, you understood he was going to have to pay."

Is Clay to blame, however? Or is it a result of being ensnared in the club? Now that the reins are in Jax's hands, fans hope that his character won't suffer the same fate. Sutter also shared his thoughts on where the new season will take his characters as he dangerously flirts with the same line.

"I told Charlie [Hunnam, who plays Jax] that one of the driving forces for what Jax will do, and his desire to stay plugged into the club and take the right road, is that he feels the burden and the guilt of Opie's death and is not going to let that be in vain," Sutter said. "It will be Opie saying, 'You need to finish this ride.' That will motivate him to do certain things so that A, Opie's death isn't in vain, and B, we feel Opie's presence throughout season 6."

"Sons of Anarchy" will return to FX on September 10.
