Apparently, there is a sizeable audience of gamers willing to give Final Fantasy 14 another try. Square Enix has reported to IGN that the relaunch for the game, Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, has garnered one million users that have registered for the game's beta program.

The revamped MMO has players of both the PC and PlayStation 3 versions of the game doing extensive testing of the game, to avoid the downright embarrassing fiasco that the original Final Fantasy 14 was for both the brand and for developer Square Enix. The game was a broken mess when first launched, enough so that Square Enix decided to take the game offline and do a major overhaul to try and get it right the second time.

Square Enix is under a lot of pressure to make sure A Realm Reborn is a smash hit for the company. The original launch is credited with damaging the whole of the Final Fantasy brand, causing Square Enix to shake things up in their upper management to try to bring the long-running series back to prominence. In addition to A Realm Reborn, Square Enix is working on Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 for current consoles, as well as Final Fantasy 15 and Kingdom Hearts 3 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will be available on the PC and PlayStation 3 on August 27. Interested gamers can still sign up for the beta program for the game if they wish to. In addition, the game will eventually be ported onto the PlayStation 4, but given the fact that the PS4 does not have a release date as of yet, it is unclear when the next-gen version of the game will be released.

Look out for more Final Fantasy 14 news as the game's release date gets closer and closer.
