After a tormenting decade hiatus, The Postal Service announced their return back in January. Upon their release, the synth pop duo released a deluxe edition of Give Up to commemorate the album's 10-year anniversary. In addition, they also announced a full 2013 tour. Fans were exuberant. One of the most melodic, sweet sounding groups to ever grace the electro pop genre had returned, but a deluxe reissue of their breakthrough album wasn't enough. They expected more, and they still do.

Fans are waiting on the edges of their seats, yearning for any indication of new music. The band's frontrunner, Ben Gibbard, has kept his lips sealed, but not all hope is lost. They kept their initial return a complete secret, denying any previous rumors. When they finally announced that they would be working together once again, the simply put up a graphic on their website that read "The Postal Service 2013." They never hinted, never teased, they just did.

On Wednesday, June 19, The Postal Service made their late night TV debut on "The Colbert Report." Colbert spoke to Gibbard, producer Jimmy Tamborello and Jenny Lewis, and when he asked the question on everyone else mind, whether or not there is a new Postal Service album in the workds, Gibbard responded by saying, "Uh...?"

Once again, their lack of a response should neither be encouraging or discouraging. If anything, the absence of an affirmative "no" should be a good indication that there is new music on the horizon. At least a single would be nice. Why not? It would streamline their 2013 tour and appease their fans that stuck it out for ten years during their hiatus. The band did release "A Tattered Line of String," however, they chose not to label it as a new single or promote it as such. All fans can do for now is sit back and wait. In the meantime, check out a video of the entire interview as well as performances of "Such Great Heights" and "A Tattered Line of String" below.
