Now that the "50 Shades of Grey" team has found its director, the natural next step is designating the cast. One would expect to hear the announcement within the following weeks, but that wouldn't be "50 Shades'" style. No, instead E. L. James and Universal studios continue to string along fans, leaving them to toil in their burning aspirations that, sadly, will likely never come true. Fans remain diligent however, creating fan polls and mock trailers featuring their own favorites. They're optimistic and cheery. They somehow find a way to mask their burning frustration that rips away at their insides, capillary by capillary. But not all is lost. At least there's a director, and while James and Universal will likely take their sweet time deliberating over the perfect Christian and Anastasia, "50 Shades" fans are well versed in keeping themselves occupied.

This time around, it's potential Christian newcomer Val Chmerkovskiy snatching all the headlines. Chmerkovskiy is known for his work on "Dancing with the Stars," but has also stabbed at a rap career, which didn't necessarily pay off. Check out his video for "White Boy Boogie," yes we're serious, below. While the song might not have the legs to make it to the top of the charts, the video proves that Chmerkovskiy would be perfectly comfortable around scantily clad women on the big screen. In fact, in a recent interview with EnStars, Chmerkovskiy admitted that he would be "very comfortable" taking on the role.

"I've read a few passages from the first book and thought it was pretty extreme graphic writing," he said at the P&G "Everyday Effect" event in NYC on June 19. "But to be honest, I'd be more comfortable in this role than some others... I would be honored to play Christian... I could see myself opposite Rachel McAdams. This would be my version on 'The Notebook.'"

Okay, first, nothing can ever stack up to "The Notebook." Second, it's highly doubtful that a well-established actress like McAdams would consider playing Anastasia, but nice try. You have to applaud his audacity.

While we wait and wait and wait for the official casting announcements, tell us what you think about Chmerkovskiy as a potential Christian Grey.
