The Chicago Blackhawks evened the Stanley Cup finals with a wild 6-5 overtime victory against the Boston Bruins in Game 4.

Chicago got on the board first with a shorthanded goal from Michael Handzus. The Bruins misplayed the puck at the point and Brandon Saad skated up the right wing. The Bruin defenders converged on him and he slotted the puck to Handzus who fired it past Bruins goalie Tuuka Rask to give Chicago a 1-0 lead. The Bruins would even the score on a Rich Peverley goal.

The Blackhawks would retake the lead six minutes into the second when captain Jonathan Toews redirected a point shot from Michael Rozsival  past Rask; the goal was only Toews' second of the postseason and his first since the second round against the Detroit Red Wings. Patrick Kane would then give his team a 3-1 lead when he managed to collect a loose puck in the slot and blasted it past Rask at the 8:41 mark of the middle frame. Milan Lucic eventually got Boston within one on the powerplay when he pounced on the rebound of a Zdeno Chara point shot at the 14:43 of the second. However, a Boston breakdown in the offensive zone would one minute later led to a quick transition from Chicago with Torey Kruger slotting home a rebound of a Michael Frolik shot. Boston would reduce the deficit with less than three minutes to go in the second when another Chara blast flew over the Chicago net, hit the glass behind, and bounced back to the front of the net; Patrice Bergeron found the loose puck and fired it past a confused Corey Crawford.

Bergeron would tie the game off a one-timer in the third but Chicago would reclaim the lead thanks to a powerplay goal from Patrick Sharp at the 11:19 mark of the final period. However, a Johnny Boychuk blast from the point would even the score less than minute later.

Brent Seabrook eventually won the game in overtime with a blast from the point.
