Former RBD singer and actress Maite Perroni has finally answered her clamoring fans with a new song.

The Mexican pop princess is reprising her singing career and released her new bachata-flavored single "Tu Y Yo", a song with a tropical vibe that sounds like something Romeo Santos would do.

Maite, who for four years was part of the group RBD before starting her solo career, released her first single on Monday in her Google+ page to thousands of followers from various countries like Greece, Slovenia, Poland, and Latin America such as Chile, Venezuela, Brazil and Colombia.

The singer/songwriter, best known for starring in telenovelas "Rebelde" and "Cuidado Con El Angel," told her followers she was preparing a promotional world tour and expressed her gratitude for their unconditional love and support.

The three-and-a-half minute song is very different from her bubblegum roots. Maite seems to be moving on from her previous sound to show her growth as an artist.

So far, critics have praised her new single. "Latin Gossip" complimented its acoustic rhythms and lush vocals.

"Tu Y Yo" was recorded in New York, where she is set to shoot the video for the song, too. Her new album is due to hit the stores next August, and it will contain 12 tracks and two bonus tracks.

Her new album was recorded under the direction of Chilean producer Koko Stambuk, who said the song "is a theme that sets the tone for what will be the line of the record. It has character and strength and many women will feel identified with its lyrics, because sometimes you need to end a relationship and say 'it's over' but you don't know how to".

The young star was chosen by "People En Español " as one of the 25 Most Powerful Latinas. Univision named her as the new Queen of the Telenovelas in 2009. That same year, she topped the "Los 50 Más Bellos" list from "People En Español," sharing the front cover with Eva Longoria and Ana Bárbara.
