Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is one of the hottest games set to appear on both current and next-gen consoles. The game is slated to appear on October 29 on the Xbox 360, Wii U, and PlayStation 3, with a PC version coming a few weeks after that date. Up until now, Ubisoft only conceded that the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game would launch in Fall of 2013. Now, Ubisoft game director Ashraf Ismail, speaking in a video interview with ElderGeek, has confirmed that game will be a launch title for both next-gen platforms.

This news certainly is exciting, however, many who have preordered either system already assumed that the game would be available at launch. For example, Those who order one of the systems at their local Gamestop know that Assassin's Creed 4 was offered as a launch title available for preorder at the same time as their next-gen system.

It is unknown exactly when the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will become available. Microsoft has gone as far as to say that the system will be out in November, but has yet to pick an official date during the month for the release date. Sony has promised that the PlayStation 4 will be out in 2013, but has given no sign as to when that will be.

The latest installment of the Assassin's Creed series takes place decades before the events of Assassin's Creed 3, and follows the story of Edward Kenway, a Caribbean pirate trained as an assassin. The game promises a unique blend of the series trademark stealth action and parkour-style exploration with a tropical setting and plenty of ship combat.  With the ability to explore the Caribbean and flow seamlessly through an open world, Assassin's Creed 4 is sure to be one of the first big hits on the next-generation of consoles, and be one of the last big titles for the current gen.
