Sony's been hitting the update button frequently recently, and while it hasn't gotten around to every device yet, Xperia Ion owners can rest easy knowing that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is scheduled to land very soon.

As Xperia Blog notes, software 6.2.B.0.211, believed to be Jelly Bean for the Xperia Ion, has recently been spotted on the PTCRB website. Firmwares and Android updates typically show up on the PTCRB website before the official release. However, it's wise not to get your hopes up too much if you're an Xperia Ion owners, as 6.2.B.0.211 isn't the first time a Jelly Bean build has been spotted.

Back in May, a software 6.2.B.0.204 (another Jelly Bean build for the Xperia Ion) was certified, leading many to believe that a rollout would happen by the end of May. This would have fallen right in line with timeline promised by Sony earlier, but alas, it was not meant to be. May has come and gone, but there may be a good reason for the delay.

Sony recently updated the Xperia S to Jelly Bean and encountered a slew of complaints. The issues were so bad that Sony pushed out a fix soon after. It's possible that the Xperia Ion Jelly Bean build suffers from the same problems, and that the second Xperia Ion firmware sighting could be the fixed version. It could be that Sony simply held off in order to patch up the issues spotted from other jelly Bean rollouts. Sony hasn't commented on the matter, and has only taken to Twitter saying that there will be more information about the Xperia Ion Jelly Bean update incredibly soon.
