HTC One owners were supposed to have received a very special gift in the form of Android 4.2.2 last week, but as the time has come and passed, the update is still nowhere to be found. HTC's ambassador to France, Yves Wi, however, is still confident that the upgrade will roll out soon, which means that it may launch this week.

As usual, Wi took to Twitter to quell some anxious fans:

"I [am] awaiting new information, but I think it's very soon...Stay tuned ;-)," Wi said in a tweet that has been edited for clarity.

Wi raised the hopes of HTC One users everywhere last week when he announced, with quite some assurance, that the Android 4.2.2 update would roll out sometime during the week. Despite the update being a no-show, Wi seems to still believe the newer Android version will land on HTC One devices sometime incredibly soon. We'll simply have to wait until HTC actually pushes out Android 4.2.2 for the One to see whether he's right or not.

A commenter on a previous Latinos Post article claimed that he (or she) had called HTC and received a July date as the time frame for the One Android 4.2.2 rollout. Latinos Post has not been able to independently verify that date, but it's more likely than not that HTC will shoot to have Android 4.2.2 sent out OTA sooner rather than later. Other flagship devices like the Galaxy S4 are already running Android 4.2.2, and most other high-profile Android smartphones are set to receive Android 4.2.2 over the summer. HTC will have to update its software in order to stay competitive against more aggressive companies like Samsung.

Android 4.2.2 for the HTC One is also said to come with an updated version of the Sense UI, Sense 5.1.
