Season 3 of "The Walking Dead" came to an abrupt end in March, leaving fans to wallow in the death of Andrea. In typical fashion, the series left off on a heart wrenching cliffhanger that makes season 4 seems farther then ever. Not to worry however, because plenty of details have made their way from production in effort to satisfy the zombie hunger. Interviews with the cast and crew, set photos and featurette videos have been trickling in, and here's a roundup of all the highlights.
Starting at square one, Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl on the show, tweeted "Episode one is huge. I promise you'll freakout. gonna be SO GOOD." Reedus then posted a photo with Nicotero himself, saying "Ep1 is gonna RULE." Check it out below.
Executive producer Greg Nicotero hosts a zombie school for the extras that are vital to the show's success. The video features the auditions where volunteers receive tips on their zombie walks and are properly dressed in "walker" attire. Check out the video below.
Showrunner Robert Kirkman himself affirmed the developing bond between Tyreese and Rick. "There's some really, really cool and big stuff that people have been expecting, or that people have been anticipating from the comics, that will work into Season 4," he said. "To give a hint, I will say that we do have Tyreese and Rick, who are now united, which is a big moment for the comic book fans. There's a lot of story that comes from those two guys being on the same side. We'll possibly see a bit of that in Season 4"
According to Comic Book Resources, producer Gale Anne Hurd claims that the first four episodes of the new season reintroduce the perils of the zombie-strewn landscape. "We're going to amp up the threat of the walkers, because they've started to seem like a manageable threat. They are not a manageable threat," she said.
Not only that, but props master John Sanders will also be introducing a new way to off zombies in killer style. "I've been waiting for two years, trying to walk to Greg Nicotero about doing this to a walker, and he saw it this year and just jumped on it. I can't really tell you what it is, but I can tell you it's going to be the craziest thing on the show, yet. What I can say is that walkers are going to get killed in newer ways this year than any other year before," he said.
Executive producer Dave Alpert also commented on what's new in the forthcoming season. "Whatever you think is going to happen on Season 4, I guarantee we're going to surprise you. There's a broader, bigger world out there and now that we've introduced the notion that there are more survivors out there, it's only going to get more and more interesting."
"We're not taking the brick off the accelerator. It's going to get bigger. It's only going to get badder. It'll only get meaner, and it's going to get bloodier." Well, that will certainly get your heart racing.
"The Walking Dead" will return to AMC in October.
