Infamous: Second Son is the third game in the series from Sucker Punch, and figures to be one of the hot titles for the PlayStation 4 once the system is released later this year. On a new PlayStation Blog post, Suck Punch explains how they will make the third game in the Infamous series the best one yet, and take advantage of the PlayStation 4's impressive specs.

One of the ways that Sucker Punch is using the PlayStation 4's technology to help bring more emotional gameplay and story to the series is through what they call "Emotion Capture." Similar to regular motion capture technology, this new system focuses on the facial features of the motion capture actor to show more realistic emoting from video game characters.

"At Sucker Punch we have sought to meet this demand by introducing a new facial capture technology to our studio that takes detailed 3D scans of the actor to 'learn' unique surface physiology of the actors to help train our system. The overall result is a very natural, organic feel directly tied to the anatomy and performance of the actor instead of something that's feels very mechanical, linear, repetitive, or just plain unsettling. With the assistance of Digital Domain's cutting edge motion capture studio, we were provided a high level of expertise and animation polish that helped see our tech all the way to the finish."

The blog post also reveals that the new protagonist for Infamous: Second Son, Delsin Rowe, is played by voice actor Troy Baker. Baker is known for his role as the main characters in both Bioshock Infinite and the upcoming The Last Of Us. Now the already critically acclaimed voice actor will be able to add his own facial expressions to his character in Infamous: Second Son. Look out for more information about the game during E3 June 9-11.
