Roger Federer's quest for another Grand Slam title resumes on Tuesday as he takes on Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarterfinal of the 2013 French Open.

Coming off a sensational five-set victory over Giles Simon, Federer will be in another testy match against another Frenchman Tuesday at Center Court.

Federer, who has been looking for his 18th Grand Slam title of his career, carries a 9-3 head-to-head record over Tsonga but the Frenchman has also been playing well throughout the tournament.

Federer showed again the heart of a champion as the Swiss netter overcame a 1-2 set deficit to book a 6-1 4-6 2-6 6-2 6-3 in a grueling match against Simon.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion appeared to be on track for a routine victory until he had an odd fall in the second set. Simon then capitalized on the moment to win the second and third set, putting him in position to pull off an upset victory against Federer. However, the Swiss Master just refused to bow down as he regained control in the next two sets to foil down the Frenchman's upset bid.

"I didn't hurt myself [with the stumble]," Federer told reporters after the game according to iSports Times . "But maybe I did lose that touch of confidence, and I was out of the match for a bit. I'm happy I found a way and was able to tidy up my play. Stayed calm under pressure."

On the other quarterfinal match, Tommy Robredo looks to sustain his Cinderella run at Roland Garros when he plays Davis Cup teammate David Ferrer.

The 32nd seed Robredo racked up three consecutive five-set match to arrange a final-eight showdown with Ferrer, who hasn't dropped a single set in the tournament.

Ferrer blasted South African rising star Kevin Anderson 6-3, 6-1, 6-1 to progress to his fifth consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinals.
