In what may serve as a preview for the "Pokémon X and Y" video games, the next Pokémon film will introduce the new Mewtwo form confirmed for the franchise's sixth generation.

Latinos Post has previously reported on the next Pokémon anime film set to debut in Japan next month. "Extreme Speed Genesect: Mewtwo's Awakens" (not the official English translation) features Mewtwo reuniting with Ash and friends as a group of Genesect cause trouble around a city.

Trailers for the flick have been available for a couple months, but the Japanese Pokémon show "Pokémon Smash" revealed new footage last week. In typical fashion, the "Smash" show features the presenters in odd roles and courtesy of YouTuber ProVictini. The new trailer can be seen below starting at 37:25.

The trailer features a shiny Genesect leading four other regular Genesects as they attack a city and other Pokémon for an unknown reason. While one Genesect attacks Ash and his friends, a barrier is provided thanks to Mewtwo. In what may be an epic fight between Genesect and Mewtwo — both Pokémon with similar history, created by an evil organization during their respective generations — Mewtwo is shown to transform to its new form.

How or what causes the new form to occur is still a mystery.

"Extreme Speed Genesect: Mewtwo's Awakens" is confirmed for a July 13 release date in Japan. A U.S. release could arrive in late 2013 on Cartoon Network.

Meanwhile, at the 39-minute mark of the video, fans can see footage of new "Pokémon X and Y" pocket monster Helioptile battle Crawdaunt.

"Pokémon X and Y" will be released in October across Australia, Europe, Japan and North America. Ten new Pokémon have been confirmed for the upcoming games: Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Xerneas, Yveltal, Sylveon, Helioptile, Fletchling, Gogoat, and Pancham.
