Halfway through the coveted 2013 French Open tournament, the field is beginning to get more narrowed as the competition start closing in on the last few rounds on Monday.
Women's No.1-seed Serena Williams rolled on to the quarterfinals in dominant fashion, beating No.15-seeded Roberta Vinci 6-1, 6-3 and extending her career-best winning streak to 28 games.
"I just want every point," she said. "Every match I'm really focused for the whole period of time. I really want it every match."

In men's action, No.2-seeded Roger Federer rallied from a two-set deficit to avoid an upset, beating No.15 seed Gilles Simon of France 6-1, 4-6, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. No. 6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga defeated unseeded Viktor Troicki 6-3, 6-3, 6-3, setting up a date between Federer and Simon in the quarterfinals. No.4-seeded David Ferrer beat Kevin Anderson 6-3, 6-1, 6-1. Tommy Robredo was tested, but rallied to vanquish No. 11 Nicolas Almagro 6-7 (5-7), 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.
