The second week of clay-court competition is underway as world's no.1 Novak Djokovic and defending champion Rafael Nadal both gun for a place in the quarterfinal round of the 2013 French Open on Monday.

Djokovic, who has been dominant so far in the tourney, is set to face German netter Philipp Kohlschreiber in the round-of-16 on the red dirt of Court Philippe Chatrier.

Djokovic and Kohlschreiber only faced each other thrice in their careers with the Serb holding a 2-1 head-to-head record. However, the German's lone win against Djokovic happened on clay and it was sensational straight-set victory in the third round of the 2009 French Open.

Still, Djokovic enters Monday's fourth-round match as the favorite to win over Kohlschreiber. The Serb has improved a lot since his loss to Kohlschreiber, keeping himself in position to win another Grand Slam title.

Having won titles at the Australian, Wimbledon, and US Open, Djokovic is aiming to become only the eighth player and fourth since the Open Era to complete a career Grand Slam.

Yet the road to glory remains challenging for Djokovic, especially if the defending champion is still around to win a record eighth title at Roland Garros.

Nadal, who has been shaky in the first three rounds, is set to face up-and-coming Japanese netter Kei Nishikori.

Nishikori has been outstanding on clay over these past few weeks, dethroning Federer at the Madrid Masters and grinding out great victories in the first three rounds.

Nadal holds a 4-0 career record against Nishikori but the Japanese has proven time and time again that he's capable of pulling off an upset on any type of surfaces.

Aside from Federer, Nishikori also boasts a victory against Djokovic and put up a strong fight against a number of elite players, including Andy Murray, David Ferrer and Juan Martin Del Potro.
