While Memphis Grizzlies' Quincy Pondexter may not be going to the NBA Finals, it looks like he might have himself a date of another kind, with Miss Tennessee Chandler Lawson.

An interesting exchange on Twitter occurred Wednesday between Pondexter, whose Grizzlies were eliminated 4-0 by the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Western Conference Finals earlier this week, managed to score a date with Lawson, who won the Miss Tennessee beauty pageant earlier this year.

Pondexter, a key backup forward for the Grizzlies, was a huge part of the Grizzlies' successful playoff run this year, coming off the bench to hit big shots and provide tough defense against NBA All-Star Kevin Durant as the Grizzlies upset last year's NBA Finalist, the Oklahoma City Thunder, during the semifinals of the NBA playoffs. And despite getting swept by the Spurs, Pondexter turned up his play during the series with an impressive 13.4 points and 55.8 shooting percentage to provide a spark for the Grizzlies in his last five games.

During the final Game 4 loss, Pondexter managed to keep the Grizzlies in the game with a strong 7-for-11, 22-point effort, the supporting player proving to be a revelation to hoops fans and analysts.

However, it appears that with the season over, the 6'6", 225-pound Pondexter, 25, a Fresno, Calif., native who played for Washington in college, was looking to have a little fun off the court by courting Lawson, 22, a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga whose platform is to end childhood hunger.

"Now that season is over I need 2 find a gf "@ChrisVernonShow: Offseason... RT @QuincyPondexter Who won Miss Tennessee this year?" Pondexter tweeted Wednesday.

Only a few hours later, Lawson replied, "@QuincyPondexter hi! Heard you were looking for me? #gogrizz"

"Yup!! single? Lol," was his reply.

And on it went until Pondexter asked her out...and she said "Yes."

"@QuincyPondexter you got it! We've got an audience waiting apparently!" she tweeted.

He might not be going to the Finals, but it looks like Pondexter has a lot of reasons to smile off the court.
