Nvidia, the GPU-making company has released a new graphics card that is the next step in high end graphics technology. The GTX 770 is based on the GTX 680 graphics card released by the company last year. The graphics card will boast the same GK104 Kepler chip that the GTX 680 had, giving it 8 SMK units and 1536 CUDA cores. But the GTX 770 has a higher clock speed at 1046 MHz, and with Nvidia's GPU Boost 2.0, bring that figure up to 1085 MHz. Gamespot is reporting that the unit has a suggested retail price of $399.
The GTX 770 comes in two different models: 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 memory model and one that comes with 4GB of memory. Both models are able to process 7 Gbps, beating the GTX 680's 6 Gbps. Overall, this gives the graphics card 224.3 GB per second of total memory bandwidth. The card's design has also gotten an overhaul with a cooling system based on the GTX Titan and 780 models.
This graphics card certainly promises to be one of the most sought after graphics cards due to it's sheer power and performance, and should give players amazing graphics for games such as "Bioshock Infinite" that can really push the power of PCs to their limits.
Nvidia is one of the leading hardware designers and manufacturers in the world, and has had a wealth of experience pushing the envelope of technology. But do not expect Nvidia technology in the next generation of video game consoles. Nvidia has gone on the record to say that the company has no interest in getting back into the console market, as it is too expensive of an investment to produce hardware for consoles. Instead, the company will focus on other projects for PCs and other technology, such as the GTX 770.
