Since the season 3 finale of "The Walking Dead," a number of rumors surrounding Rick's future have surfaced. They've mostly concerned the potential conflict between him and Daryl, however, other rumors indicate that Rick could be finding new love amidst the zombie apocalypse, although it may be a bit too soon.

Season 4 will pick up four to eight months later from where season 3 left off, which means that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) will have been a single father for nearly a year. Although the timing seems right, in Lincoln's eyes, his character isn't ready for a new relationship.

"I think there has to be some kind of mourning time," Lincoln said to TVLine earlier this month. "I don't think he's able to engage at all on that level at the moment. I wouldn't rule it out though... I think Sarah Wayne Callies would be phoning me deeply upset if anything like that would be happening in season 4."

So it remains unclear if Rick will move past the death of Lori (Callies), but he wouldn't rule it out. Although nothing is set in stone, it's still fun to speculate. Rick could use a new companion. Living in a post apocalypse world can be lonely.

In other recent "Walking Dead" news, producer Gale Anne Hurd claims that the first eight episodes of the new season reintroduce the perils of the zombie-strewn landscape. "We're going to amp up the threat of the walkers, because they've started to seem like a manageable threat. They are not a manageable threat," she said.

One photo from the upcoming season features Rick trudging through the woods with a walker hot on hit tails, a perfect example of the zombie increased that the producers promise fans. Check it out above.

"The Walking Dead" will return to AMC on Sunday, October 13 at 9/8c.
