One of the most-watched, most famous races in the world starts on Sunday when the 2013 Indianapolis 500 kicks off Memorial Day weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana.

The 97th running of "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" won't be featuring racing star Danica Patrick, but defending champion Dario Franchitti, Marco Andretti, and others will be starting their engines in Indianapolis on Sunday.

AJ Allmendinger is looking to rebound from a positive drug test last year with a win at the Indy 500, while Marco is looking to further exorcize the demons that his world-famous Andretti family has suffered at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway by winning big on Sunday.

"I've got to win this race," Marco told USA Today. "I've never wanted something so bad in my life."

However, reigning champion Dario Franchetti, a three-time winner at the Indy 500, can stamp his name in the history books by becoming only the fourth race car driver ever to win four times at The Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Helio Castroneves, another three-time winner, could be another one who could drive into victory lane and into the record books.

Yet, there are also the dark horse favorites that are entering the Indy 500 Sunday, such as James Hinchcliffe, who is ranked fourth in the IndyCar standings. Having two race victories under his belt already this season, Hinchcliffe could be in position to pull of his biggest victory yet. Scott Dixon, a former 2008 Indy 500 winner, is another driver with the potential to drive off as the winner on Sunday. Takuma Sato, the current points leader in IndyCar racing, has been looking strong in his last four races, one of which he netted a victory in along with two podium finishes, and if anyone can swoop in and take the big win at the Indy 500, it would be Sato.
