Microsoft's Windows Phone customers can expect a new update of the YouTube app soon.

The new update to Windows Phone's YouTube app comes after a very public disagreement with YouTube owner, Google. The search-engine company had requested Microsoft to remove their YouTube app following a May 8 update that allowed users to download videos and featured no advertisements.

Google was not pleased with the May 8 update.

"Unfortunately, by blocking advertising and allowing downloads of videos, your application cuts off a valuable ongoing revenue source for creators, and causes harm to the thriving content ecosystem on YouTube," wrote YouTube's Director of Global Platform Partnerships Francisco Varela to Windows Phone Apps and Store's General Manager Todd Brix in a letter dating May 15.

Google gave Microsoft a deadline of May 22 to "immediately withdraw" the Windows Phone YouTube app, but it was not until the following day that some changes were made.

As Latinos Post reported, Microsoft then updated the YouTube app and disabled the ability to download videos, however, the app still had no advertisements.

In a statement via ZDNet, a Microsoft spokesperson said, "Microsoft updated the Windows Phone YouTube app to address the restricted video and offline video access concerns voiced by Google last week. We have been in contact with Google and continue to believe that our two companies can work together to hone an app that benefits our mutual customers, partners and content providers."

The "contact" might have led to a new decision made by Google and Microsoft, which led to a joint statement by both organizations on Friday.

"Microsoft and YouTube are working together to update the new YouTube for Windows Phone app to enable compliance with YouTube's API terms of service, including enabling ads, in the coming weeks. Microsoft will replace the existing YouTube app in Windows Phone Store with the previous version during this time," read the statement, via CNET.
