Public figures are constantly faced with the possibility of being linked to some type of controversial situation. Some celebrities even seem to thrive and enjoy whenever they appear on the sensational pages of tabloids. Someone who seems to be on this category of celebrities is retired baseball player Jose Canseco.

Canseco furthers his history of conflict with the law with charges of sexual assault. The allegations have become public with the ball player's scandalous tweets that narrate the altercations.

The Cuban-born athlete became famous as an outfielder and designated batter for the Oakland Athletics. He also played on many other baseball teams, including the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. Bue he also became famous for things other than his athletic abilities.

Canseco came forth with his use of performance enhancing drugs, mainly steroids, and claimed several other members in the MLB also used drugs in order to increase their physical abilities.

Canseco's sexual assault controversy began yesterday, May 22, when he tweeted that he was being accused of rape. He composed a shocking post where he not only made public his accusation, but also published the name of the accuser and her address. And to make the situation even more heated, Canseco posted photographs of the accuser as well.

Although there has not been a case filed yet, the Las Vegas Police Department considers Canseco to be a suspect on this ongoing case.

He also tweeted, "All media welcome to this drama filled event. Did I rape [the accuser] or is she lieing. Stay tuned to another day in the life of jose canseco [sic]."

The ball player also tweeted about his initiative to take a public polygraph test to prove his innocence. It seems that the former all-star player is not afraid to speak his mind and make his personal life public via social media. Nevertheless, the above-mentioned tweets have been removed from his account.

This is not the first time the famous Oakland Athletics slugger is being accused of violence against women. On November 1997, he was arrested for beating his then-wife and received one-year probation and counseling. The Las Vegas police department is still in the middle of the latest investigation.
