Television tough-guy, Chuck Norris, sees a lot of himself in free agent quarterback, Tim Tebow, according to a column written by the Hollywood actor, for the conservative Web site, Newsbusters.

"He reminds me of myself when I used to compete in martial arts," said the star of "Code of Silence", "Missing In Action", "Delta Force", and "Walker, Texas Ranger". "I would spar with my black belts in class, and sometimes they would outscore me. Yet in the tournaments, I would defeat them. My students used to ask me, 'Why is it that we can contend equally against you in class but can't beat you in the tournaments?' My answer was always the same: 'When it counts, I rise to the occasion,'"

Tebow, who was recently cut by the New York Jets after a tumultuous season that saw him sitting on the bench most of the season, is currently a free agent and looking for a new team.

Norris, who has been following Tebow's career since he winning national titles as Florida Gator, believes that the Jacksonville Jaguars should step up and give him an opportunity to play for his hometown team, citing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to make his case.

"So let me respectfully challenge [Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad] Khan to consider these words from Dr. King: 'There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe nor politic nor popular, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right,'" Norris writes.

Jacksonville is not interested in the services of the former Heisman award winner despite the wishes of Tebow fans such as Norris.

"We just wanted a fresh start. We didn't want the same recurring themes coming up," said Jacksonville's new general manager, David Caldwell, earlier this month, on Bill Polian's SiriusXM NFL Radio show.
