Movie tie in s do not have a great reputation, but the team at Phosphor is hoping to break those notions with the World War Z game. Paramount Digital Entertainment alongside developer Phosphor Games have finally revealed the project as a mobile entry to be released on May 30.

Phosphor has the credentials to back this project up. Their last title, 2012's Horn, wrangled a number of mobile Game of the Year awards, and was widely praised for its visual quality.

The trailer for World War Z seems to reflect this as well, looking almost as good as quite a few console and PC releases.

"We were excited to be able to use the cutting-edge Unreal Engine 3 to bring World War Z to life," said Phosphor Games Studio Director Chip Sineni in a statement. "Our goal was to build Paramount a AAA game, and with that came all our favorite bells and whistles, like ambient occlusion lighting, multipass blended textures, and hordes of enemies to fight."

Hordes is right, and it looks like World War Z is trying to match (or even surpass) some of the crazy zombie armies we've seen in the movie trailer. The game will feature 28 levels, "zombie combat," puzzle solving, upgradeable weapons and armor, and an "unlimited challenge mode."

" Offering a fully immersive experience, players are dropped into the middle of the World War Z chaos," states the official description. "Casual and core gamers will both love the game's action-packed first person experience and electrifying story."

The game will be released on May 30, a few weeks before the film hits theaters on June 21. It will be released on the iOS and select Android devices.

The film follows Brad Pitt as a ex-United Nations agent who must travel the world looking for a cure to a zombie pandemic. It is based on the novel of the same name by Max Brooks.
