A woman in Jallais, France, gave birth in a town hall just minutes after tying the knot. She wasn't due for another week, but apparently the baby wasn't informed.

Wedding officiant and Jallais mayor Jean-Robert Gachet told the AFP he tried to hurry the ceremony along, since the bride looked "definitely a bit worn out," but they had chalked it up "to the stress of the wedding."

The couple made it through their vows, but the bride began feeling strong contractions just as they were about to start taking the traditional wedding photos. Someone called emergency medical workers, but it was too late. Unsuspecting friends and family waiting at the reception hall warmly greeted the happy couple and the surprise guest.

"It did rather shake us up," Gachet said. He confirmed both mother and baby boy are doing well.

Bonus: to follow up this story, The Week published a list of 8 strange places women have given birth including a plane, a parking lot and the back of a Volkswagen.

And, it could be worse - check out TLC's "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant," a TV show about just that, tales of women who conceived and carried babies all the way to labor and delivery without ever realizing they had a bun in the oven.
