A teaser trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins has been released. The short clip reveals the dark knight battling Deathstroke, confirming the assassin's debut appearance in the series.

Arkham Origins is a prequel to the other two Arkham games, and will be developed by Warner Bros. Games Montreal instead of Rocksteady. The game is set several years before the events of the first installment. It finds Batman earlier in his career, before some of his more iconic run-ins with many of Gotham's villains.

The game's main villain will be Black Mask, a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne and the head of Gotham's criminal underworld. The game will also feature Alberto Falcone, the Penguin, and Deathstroke.

The game also takes place before the construction of Arkham City, in the area known as Old Gotham. This region contains the slums, a large mall, and the docks where Penguin's ship is located. To navigate the open world setting, Batman will be able to remotely summon his plane to fly him to other sections of the map.

In terms of gadgets, one new addition to Batman's arsenal has been confirmed. The Remote Claw is a new device that will allow Batman to target two objects and pull them together. This can be used to knock enemies against each other or throw objects at them.

Arkham Origins will also feature side missions that appear during regular gameplay. "Crime in Progress" missions will allow Batman to improve his reputation with the Gotham City Police Department by intervening in criminal activities, such as rescuing cops from a gang attack. "Most Wanted" missions will allow Batman to pursue villains outside of the main story.

The game will also feature an improved "Detective Mode," which is said to play a much bigger role in this installment. The crime scenes can be reviewed on the computer in the Batcave to break down the clues and solve the crime.

The game will be released on October 25, 2013 for the PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U.
