AT&T's Nokia lineup will see competition this summer, as Nokia will launch the Lumia 925 for T-Mobile.
The Lumia 925 was confirmed on Tuesday during a Nokia event in London, and the Finnish-based company has penned June for a potential release date.
The Lumia 925 does have similar features to the Lumia 920, but its immediate difference is the body. Nokia is using a metallic cover for the Lumia 925, in contrast to the Lumia 920's polycarbonate case. Despite the metal, the Lumia 925 weighs less with 139 grams, or 4.90 ounces, compared to the Lumia 920's 185 grams, or 6.53 ounces.
The two Lumia devices share a 4.5-inch screen with 1,280x768 pixels at 332 pixels per inch. The smartphones also use Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection and PureMotion HD+ ClearBlack display.
When it comes to the internal storage, the Lumia 920 offers more memory. The Lumia 925 will only be available with 16GB internal memory and 1GB of RAM. The Lumia 920's internal storage is at 32GB while maintaining the 1GB of RAM. The two Windows Phone 8 smartphones do not offer a microSD card slot. It is important to note that Europe's Vodafone has confirmed it will offer a 32GB model of the 925, meaning there's a slim chance more storage options will become available for U.S. consumers.
Wireless connectivity for the Lumia devices are the same. Both utilize Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, microUSB version 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, DLNA, and Wi-Fi hotspot.
The camera specifications are also similar. The rear-facing camera for both smartphones are at 8 megapixels with 3,264x2,448 pixels. The front-facing camera for the Lumia 920 has 1.2 megapixels, while the Lumia 925 has 1.3 megapixels. As for video recording, the rear-facing camera can record at 1080p at 30 frames per second (fps), while the front-facing camera will capture video at 720p while maintaining the same fps.
The Lumia 925 and Lumia 920 both also use the same dual-core 1.5GHz Krait processor with Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon chipset.
The battery capacity, once again, is the same at 2,000mAh, which will offer up to 440 hours for both smartphones when under a 3G network. The talk time, however, is different with the Lumia 920 offering up to 10 hours while the Lumia 925 can go to 12 hours and 40 minutes.
