New rumors circulating about HTC's upcoming release schedule don't bode well for an eventual Verizon version of the HTC One.

Yesterday, DigiTimes reported several new phone from different manufacturers are set to be released sometime in the third quarter of this year. One of those phones was the HTC Butterfly 2, an update to the HTC Butterfly.

"HTC plans to release its next-generation HTC Butterfly 2 in the third quarter. The Butterfly 2 will have a large-size display supporting Full HD and a number of features such as BlinkFeed, UltrapPixel sensor and BoomSound speakers that are found in its latest flagship model, the New HTC One, launched in March 2013," DigiTimes wrote.

Verizon prefers to rebrand phones if it can, so it released the original Butterfly as the Droid DNA. If you've been following HTC One rumors, you know there's been speculation that it will be released on Verizon as a successor to the Droid DNA, perhaps as the Droid DNA+ or the DNA 2.

But now that it appears the Butterfly 2 (and therefore the Droid DNA 2) are due in just a few short months, it's unlikely the HTC One will appear under any of those pseudonyms on America's largest carrier.

That means the only chance for a Verizon HTC One is a release under the original name, but neither HTC nor Verizon seem optimistic about that possibility. Previously, an HTC tweet announced that the One would not be coming to Verizon, but the tweet was removed without comment shortly thereafter.

Since then, neither company has confirmed or denied rumors of a Verizon HTC One, but time appears to be running out.

The HTC One features a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 4.7-inch 1920x1080 pixel widescreen Super LCD 3 display, a 2300 mAh Li-Po battery, a 4-megapixel "Ultrapixel" camera with enhanced low-light sensitivity with 1080p HD video, up to 64GB of internal storage and runs Android 4.1.2. Check back for the latest updates on the HTC One as they become available.
