The first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs is starting to get fast and furious as the action on the NHL ice continues on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the Boston Bruins took a commanding 3-1 lead in the series with the Toronto Maple Leafs thanks to an overtime goal from David Krejci that won Game 4 for the Bruins 4-3, sending the series back to Boston for a potentially series-ending Game 5.

The New York Rangers fought their way out of an 0-2 series hole to tie their first round series with the Washington Capitals up at 2-all with a 4-3 win at Madison Square Garden thanks to the go-ahead goal from Dan Girardi with 59 seconds left in the third period.

Meanwhile, the defending Stanley Cup Champion L.A. Kings took a 3-2 series lead after a nail-biting 3-2 overtime win in Game 5 against the St. Louis Blues thanks to a timely goal from Slava Voynov in overtime. With Game 6 due back at the Staples Center on Friday, the Kings have the opportunity to advance and take another step in defending their title.

And in Anaheim, Calif., the Anaheim Ducks pushed the Detroit Red Wings to the brink of elimination by taking Game 5 with a 3-2 win in overtime thanks to Nick Bonino's overtime goal. The Ducks now lead 3-2 in the series and have a chance to wrap it up in Game 6 on Friday in Detroit.

The action now continues on Thursday when the Ottawa Senators visit Montreal to take on the Canadians. Ottawa holds a 3-1 chokehold on the series and looks to get to the semifinals by beating the storied Canadians franchise in Montreal. Can the Canadians mount a comeback, or will their 20-year Stanley Cup drought extend another year?

In Pittsburgh, John Tavares and the New York Islanders have rallied to tie the series up at two games each. But they still have the daunting task of facing superstar Sidney Crosby and the heavily-favored Pittsburgh Penguins on their home ice in the pivotal Game 5 of the series.

And in the Windy City of Chicago, the Chicago Blackhawks have a 3-1 series lead against the Minnesota Wild. Now, Patrick Kane and the Blackhawks look to get to the semifinals for the first time in three years, but to do that, they'll have to beat Zach Parise and the Wild, who aren't done just yet.
