The fourth season of "The Walking Dead" is still a summer away, but that doesn't stop zombie lovers from getting their fill. In fact, some zombie fanatics take it the whole nine yards. Every season, "The Walking Dead" crew hosts "walker" auditions for those willing to go through the rigorous process of becoming the high-caliber zombie that the show has established. In a new behind-the-scenes feature, fans can now get an idea of what it takes to be drafted as a flesh eating "walker" on AMC's hit series.

Fans may be surprised as to how long it takes to apply the pounds of makeup required for a complete zombie transformation. Not only that, but they also have to stay in character for long periods of time with the itchy, sticky makeup clogging their pours. Sounds wonderful, doesn't it? It's also not as easy as one would think to pretend to be utterly mindless, walking around with a grunting drone.

But don't lose give up too easily. Executive producer Greg Nicotero hosts a zombie school for the extras that are vital to the show's success. The video features the auditions where volunteers receive tips on their zombie walks and are properly dressed in "walker" attire.

In other "Walking Dead" news, the series officially began filming on Monday, May 6 in Georgia. And to add to the excitement, Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl on the show, recently tweeted "Episode one is huge. I promise you'll freakout. gonna be SO GOOD." Reedus then posted a photo with Nicotero himself, saying "Ep1 is gonna RULE." Check it out below.

AMC has yet to reveal the official season 4 premiere date, but it's expected to begin sometime in October, as it has in the previous three seasons. Until then, enjoy the zombie school video and don't be afraid to practice some moves around the house. You never know when "The Walking Dead" might be shooting in your neighborhood.
