It didn't take long for problems from Apple's latest iOS update to arise.

Apple's Support Communities features a thread with members sharing their experiences following the installation of iOS 6.1.4.

Sarahhrl wrote (as is), "I updated my [iPhone 5] to 6.1.4 this afternoon [...] since then I've had a text from O2 saying that I've used my monthly data allowance of 1.5Gb. Also, my battery is draining before my eyes. It's going down about 1% a minute! Has anyone else had problems?"

"I'm having the same issue. Battery is draining right before my eyes about 1% every 2-3 minutes.  Is there a way to down grade back to 6.1.3?," wrote Csctiger2000.

While there is no way to downgrade, the stories continued.

"Ok, so I tried to restore with iTunes and still the same problem. Than I Reset and erased everything by using settings in iPhone, and started to configure it as a new iPhone. Than I connected it to iTunes again and restored from backup, and it seems to be working normally again," ssivic stated.

"Having the same issue here since it update to the iOS 6.1.4 this is toatly rediclious and my phone is only 6 days old," added Nannerz32288.

As an owner of an iPhone 5 who did update to iOS 6.1.4, the battery drainage has been visible with at least 30 percent vanishing in approximately two hours, that is with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned off and all apps closed. With iOS 6.1.3, 30 percent of battery life would typically be used up in a span of six hours.

The iOS 6.1.4 update was released last week, exclusively for the iPhone 5. The purpose of the update was to improve the audio profile for the speakerphone.

To update to iOS 6.1.4, iPhone users can tap "Settings," to "General," and select "Software Update." iPhone 5 users must have Wi-Fi enabled to install the update.
