Well, it looks like the apocalypse has come sooner than we thought. Previous rumors indicated that Kanye West would debut new music from his upcoming album during his "Saturday Night Live" performance on May 18, but on May 6, the rapper premiered new material during his concert at the Met Ball in New York City. It has yet to be confirmed if the new song will be on his forthcoming album, but it does feature the primal screaming that Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter told Rolling Stone about when the two worked together in West's Paris studio.

The song is apparently called "I am God," an unsurprising title from the notoriously egoistic West. He put on an electric performance, decked out in a black leather kilt, pants and gloves, catering to the venue's punk theme. Although there are no audio recordings of the performance, Vine videos from A-Trak and actress Jaime King feature West on stage while he performs the new track with intense flashing lights and obscure visuals. West's new album is rumored for a June 18 release, but once again, nothing has been confirmed. It's expected that he will make an official announcement, or at least provide fans with more details, during his SNL appearance on May 18. The album will feature Daft Punk, Skrillex, 2 Chainz, John Legend, Chief Keef, members of Odd Future, King L and producer Young Chop.

Now that the initial performance of "I Am God" is out of the way, perhaps it's indication that he will perform the track once again during his SNL performance. His show last night at the Met Ball could have served as a warm up for the track's national debut. It seems plausible, but you never know with Kanye. We'll just have to wait and see.
