Consumers have snapped up the HTC One since its delayed release in the United States nearly three weeks ago. Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile all offer HTC's flagship phone, but what about Verizon?

Previously, a tweet from HTC said Verizon would not be carrying the HTC One, instead sticking with the Droid DNA, also from HTC.

But that tweet was quietly deleted soon after, and HTC hasn't commented on it since.

Now, in a live chat on Yahoo! News, HTC's opened up about the possibility of seeing the HTC One on Verizon one of these days.

"There are tons of rumors online but we haven't made any official announcement about HTC One coming to Verizon. The DROID DNA continues to be the HTC hero smartphone at Verizon. It launched in late 2012, it's [sic] features still compete with products in 2013. When we announce our next product with Verizon, we'll make a big deal about it so you're all aware," said Tom Harlin, director of public relations for HTC.

So what does that mean? It's PR speak, so it's naturally couched, playing it safe. Harlin doesn't say the One is coming to Verizon, but unlike that earlier tweet, he doesn't say it won't.

HTC can't be happy about Verizon's decision to hold off on the One, especially since there's little buzz about the Droid DNA these days. Likely HTC wants rumors of a Verizon HTC One to continue, in the hopes that people will keep bugging Verizon about it, giving HTC leverage to convince Big Red to come aboard.

The HTC One features a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 4.7-inch 1920x1080 pixel widescreen Super LCD 3 display, a 2300 mAh Li-Po battery, a 4-megapixel "Ultrapixel" camera with enhanced low-light sensitivity with 1080p HD video, up to 64GB of internal storage and runs Android 4.1.2.
