The LG Optimus G Pro hits the U.S. on AT&T later this week, but newly discovered files from Sprint hint at a Snapdragon 800 processor, not the Snapdragon 600 on the spec sheet.
The Snapdragon 800 is Qualcomm's fastest and most powerful processor, though it's slated for release later this year. It would be quite a coup if LG was able to get its hands on the 800 for the Optimus G Pro, since the American version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 is still using a Snapdragon 600.
The 800 improves upon the 600 with Krait 400 architecture and a top clock speed of 2.3GHz. It also has an Adreno 330 graphics processor with 30fps 4K playback capability.
A Snapdragon 800 would make the G Pro a top rival for the Galaxy S4, perhaps even giving it the edge among spec-heads.
Of course, there is another, equally likely possibility. It's hard to tell exactly what phone is referred to on the Sprint website, but many of the specs match the Optimus line. That means this could be a preview of the Optimus G2, the newest installment of the brand due out later this year.
That timeline would match up better with what we've already heard about the Snapdragon 800, and it would mean the Optimus G2 will be a formidable phone and a top choice when it hits the market.
The LG Optimus G Pro features a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor (probably), 2 GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch Full-HD 1920x1080 IPS display with 440 ppi, a 13-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video, 32GB of internal storage, an SD card slot for up to 64GB more, a huge 3000 mAh Li-Po battery and runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
