After taking a year away from boxing, Floyd Mayweather still proved to everybody that he's the best fighter in this generation as he cruised to a unanimous decision victory over Guerrero in a one-side contest on Saturday at MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Robert Guerrero really fought like a ghost on Saturday as his presence was hardly felt in the biggest fight of his career. The 36-year-old Mayweather once again displayed remarkable defense and sharp counter punching to baffle his opponent in almost every round.

Aside from the undefeated boxer's full-time trainer and uncle Roger Mayweather, Floyd Mayweather Sr. was also in his corner to give him some pointers about his defense.

"I needed my father tonight," Mayweather told ESPN following his 117-111, 117-111, 117-11 decision win on Saturday. "My defense was on point and he told me to stick with my defense and that the less you get hit the longer you last."

On the other hand, Guerrero had a hard time chasing Mayweather inside the ring and was often on the receiving end of Floyd's sharp right hand lead.

"I landed some good shots on him," Guerrero told ESPN. "He's a great fighter. He's slick and quick."

Mayweather said he was disappointed for not giving the fans the kind of ending they wanted, blaming his injured hand for not coming through with a knockout despite peppering Guerrero with devastating hooks in the later rounds.

"I was looking for the knockout but I hurt my hand," Mayweather told ESPN. "I feel bad I didn't give the fans the knockout."

According to ringside statistics, Mayweather landed 60 percent of his power shot - including 23 of 30 power punches in the 8th round. Guerrero was able to land 113 shots, but the telling blow in the fight was coming from Mayweather.

Mayweather, who will pocket guaranteed purse money of $32 million, stayed undefeated after 44 bouts. Despite reports of a possible retirement, it looks like Mayweather is set to have another big pay day against a still unknown fighter this coming September 14.
