It has been an exciting week for gamers looking to find out more about the PlayStation 4 and the next-gen Xbox. Microsoft in particular has been the epicenter of attention, as many different rumors swirl around their next-gen entry, which will be revealed in less than three weeks.
One of the biggest rumors concerning the next-gen Xbox suggests that the system will come in a standard and cheaper, subsidized model, and carry a $15 monthly charge alongside a $299 price tag. The full version of the next-gen Xbox is rumored to cost around $500. Another big rumor about the system is that Microsoft is facing substantial delays on launch software, and could face a lackluster release window, much like the Wii U. It was also revealed that the next-gen Xbox could be called Xbox Fusion, if Microsoft's registered domain names are anything to go by. However, Respawn (founded by Infinity Ward founders) is rumored to be creating a multiplayer-focused game for the system.
The PlayStation 4 has had a pretty quiet week in comparison, as the big news story coming from Sony is from a pair of exclusive games for the system. Quantic Dreams, creators of Heavy Rain and the upcoming Beyond: Two Souls, is creating a game for the system, and it may include multiplayer. Diablo 3 also revealed a special preorder deal for exclusive content for the PlayStation 3 version of the game, which may carry over to the PlayStation 4 version of the game as well.
Finally, Havok, creators of the famous Havok physics engine, added their own two cents about the next generation of consoles, stating a belief that destructible environments will become the new norm in the next generation.
