Could the next Xbox be called the Fusion? According to Fusible, Microsoft has just registered a number of domains related to the term including XboxFusion.com, XboxFusion.info, XboxFusion.biz, XboxFusion.de, and XboxFusion.co.uk.

IGN notes that Microsoft currently does not own any domains related to the keywords Xbox 720, Xbox Infinity, Xbox Durango or Xbox Infinite, but this recent acquisition has given them web addresses related to Xbox Fusion, Xbox Next, Xbox Gold, and Xbox 8.

Some sources note that domain name registrations have been a good indicator of Microsoft's announcements in the past. Just back in February, Microsoft's Xbox Event website led right into its upcoming May unveiling.

Alternatively, the Fusion could be related to one of the other rumored Microsoft devices including the IllumiRoom technology, Xbox Mini, or the re-release of the Xbox 360.

We'll find out the answer soon enough during the May 21st Xbox announcement event. Until then, it's all speculation, but it's definitely an interesting development.

Previously, unconfirmed sources pointed towards a $500 price point, alongside a $300 model that would require a two year commitment to Xbox Live. Additionally, the controversial "always online" DRM requirement has been confirmed by a number of insiders, although a recent rumor pointed towards it being an optional feature for publishers to implement.

The Xbox 720, codenamed the Durango, will be officially unveiled on May 21 at a closed door event at Microsoft's headquarters. A second event will take place in June at E3 for select members of the press. It is rumored that Microsoft will unveil the launch lineup here. A third rumored event is said to be taking place at the Build 2013 conference, and will be oriented towards Xbox 720 developers.

What do you think about a potential Xbox Fusion? Is it an interesting name, or should Microsoft stick to something with a number on the end?
