South Park: The Stick of Truth is just one of the games affected by THQ's bankruptcy, but thankfully the project found a new home at Ubisoft, who bought publication rights for a cool $3.2 million. While the game was scheduled to be released in May under THQ, Ubisoft has delayed the game, with only a promise that the game will be out in 2013, according to an Ubisoft spokesman speaking to Videogamer.

The game's status was in doubt after the THQ bankruptcy news broke out, and its absence from Ubisoft's latest release schedule. However, it appears that the game is still slated for 2013. Originally, the game was suppose to be released on March 5.

South Park: The Stick of Truth represents the biggest and most polished version of a South Park video game in the history of the medium. Though the series has inspired many different video games dating back to the original PlayStation and Nintendo 64, none have ever captured the humor and tone of the series quite like The Stick of Truth. The narrative depicts Kyle, Stan, Kenny, and Cartman guiding the user-created character throughout South Park and the many different locals of the fictional Colorado town.

Then-president of THQ Jason Rubin spoke about the game's potential in November, as reported by Gamespot:

"I believe South Park's market opportunity is significant...It is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated titles of calendar 2013. It is also an expansive title, encompassing multiple television seasons' worth of content. THQ is committed to giving gamers no less than the rich South Park game they have been waiting for and deserve."
