Bradley Cooper is the latest to leave the nightmare production "Jane Got A Gun."
Cooper becomes the fourth person to quit the film. He stated "Regretfully, due to date conflicts between the film I am currently shooting for David O Russell and 'The Hangover,' I am unable to join Natalie, Joel, Noah and Gavin on this truly exciting project. I was really looking forward to being a part of it and hope to work with each and every one in the future."
According to the Hollywood Reporter Cooper's exit hasn't affected the shoot yet because production is in a planned shut-down phase; it was set it up when director Gavin O'Connor took over for Lynne Ramsey. The Hollywood Reported noted, "The director couldn't take on the project cold so even as they began shooting immediately, they restructured the schedule, putting in this timeframe which would allow them to breath and catch up." Cooper's part was originally scheduled to shoot in the latter half of the schedule.
The film tells the story of a woman whose outlaw husband returns home riddled with bullet wounds and barely alive. When her husband's gang eventually tracks him down to finish the job, she is forced to reach out to an ex-lover and ask if he will help defend her farm.
Throughout the past month the film has suffered setbacks. Michael Fassbender was the first to exit citing schuedling conflicts. Then director Ramsey quit on the eve of production and angered producer Scott Steindorff. He stated "I have millions of dollars invested, we're ready to shoot, we have a great script, crew and cast. I'm shocked and so disappointed someone would do this to 150 crew members who devoted so much time, energy, commitment and loyalty to a project, and then have the director not show up. It is insane somebody would do this to other people."
They then enlisted O'Connor but Jude Law quit shortly after because he was told he would work with Ramsey.
Cooper was to play Jane's (Natalie Portman) husband in the film. Joel Edgerton is scheduled to star in the role.
Sources say production went out to Jake Gyllenhaal but he did not accept.
"Jane Got a Gun" is slated for release in 2014.
