J.J Abrams is worried about the new "Star Wars Episode VII."
In a recent interview with BBC News the helmer revealed that he was nervous about the prospect of directing the latest installment in the franchise. He stated that he did not want to be responsible for rebooting the series. He added, "It was one of the main reasons I initially said no to 'Star Wars'. I thought, 'I can't be that guy'."
He also stated that he never thought Star Wars would be his next project because he was working on a smaller comedy drama. He said "There's a story that we are working on that's a small comedy drama, that I assumed would be the next movie I was going to direct. And then 'Star Wars' came along. It was one of those things where 'Star Wars' felt like one of those once in a lifetime opportunities that forced me to stop and reconsider whatever the rulebook was."
Abrams also added that when he does the film he will remove anything he believes or thinks and will simply make the film as authentic as possible. He stated "It's just about about approaching it from as authentic a place as possible, and not trying to apply what you believe or think, as much as trying to filter everything and get at it from the core of the characters. [It should be] what you deeply want to see, never what you assume the fans might like."
When questioned about whether he would do another franchise blockbuster, Abrams stated "I do feel at a certain point, if I take on one more, it's over. I already felt that way with 'Mission: Impossible', then with 'Star Trek'."
"Star Wars Episode 7" will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, and is rumored to star Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Harrison Ford. Michael Arndt will write the film and Disney will release it in 2015.
