The road to the Stanley Cup is officially underway as the second day of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs launches on Wednesday.

The playoffs began on Tuesday as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Minnesota Wild 2-1, Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford making 26 saves. The St. Louis Blues defeated the defending Stanley Cup champion L.A. Kings 2-1 in an overtime thriller thanks to Alexander Steen's two goals, including the game-winner in overtime.

And at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., the Anaheim Ducks powered to a 3-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings thanks to goals from Anaheim's Teemu Selanne and Francois Beauchemin.

The first round kicks off for six more teams on Wednesday as the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Boston Bruins. Wednesday's kickoff marks the first time that the two teams have met in the playoffs since 1974, and the Bruins are looking for a hot run in the playoffs despite dropping the last seven of nine games. However, they have also beaten the Leafs in nine of their last 10 meetings, and the Leafs have lost 11 of their last 13 games at the TD Garden in Boston, where the series kicks off tonight.

The action continues in Pittsburgh with the N.Y. Islanders taking on the heavily-favored Pittsburgh Penguins. Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby is questionable with a broken jaw and last year's Hart Trophy winner Evgeni Malkin has had lingering shoulder problems, but they are also facing an Islanders squad that hasn't made the playoffs since 2007. John Tavares is looking to bring the Isles some good fortune in their match-up against the powerhouse Pittsburgh team.

And in Vancouver, the San Jose Sharks take on the Vancouver Canucks, who are hoping to have an answer to who the goalkeeper will be with Cory Schneider on the mend from injury. The Sharks entered the playoffs on a 12-3-1 hot streak to clinch their playoff berth for the ninth straight season, but will face a still challenge in the Northwest Division champion Canucks, powered by Henrik Sedin (45 points for the season) and Alex Burrows (13 goals in 2012-13).
