After much speculation about the next Call of Duty game, it appears as though that Call of Duty: Ghosts is indeed the next official game in the successful franchise. Promotional material outlines a November 5 release date for the title.

While Activision has begun teasing the game, and an announcement about the game is expected tomorrow, IGN has obtained a promotional poster confirming the game's title and release date. The image also states that those who pre-order the game will receive a limited edition poster.

Call of Duty: Ghosts began showing up in advertisements for UK retailer Tesco and US retailer Target, thus leading fans to the conclusion that Activision was going to create a brand-new title in the series, rather than create Modern Warfare 4, as was rumored. It is unclear at this point what systems the game will be released, as it has been rumored that the game will run on a next-gen engine, indicating that the game may be available for the next-gen consoles.

Activision may have decided to begin the process of announcing the game after the repeated leaks about the game, though May is traditionally the time that the company announces their new Call of Duty game for the year. E3, set for June 9-11, may also be a time in which more information about Ghosts is released. After all, there is no guarantee that Activision will confirm much else besides the title on May 1, especially if they have a big presentation planned for E3.

It is a busy time for Activision, as they are currently putting out DLC for the latest game in the series, Black Ops 2. The PlayStation 3 and PC versions of the game are still waiting for the Uprising Pack, which includes four new multiplayer maps and a new zombie mode. We shall see what Activision does with Ghosts and Black Ops 2 tomorrow and in the near future.
