It's been a rollercoaster ride of a weekend for "50 Shades" fans. Last week ended with director Gus Van Sant and Alex Pettyfer teaming up to shoot test footage for the upcoming film, and their efforts paid off. Van Sant got the attention of "50 Shades" nation and could have secured his spot as director. Pettyfer has also sparked some Christian Grey buzz after starring in the racy scene where he takes Anastasia's virginity with tender love and grace. Rumors then surfaced surrouning Jennifer Lawrence's apparent interest in the Anastasia role, speculations that were quickly cast aside. Despite all the action, no official information has surfaced. We're left waiting, hanging on by a thread. Why Universal studios and E. L. James continue to torture us is unclear, but we hope to get answers soon.
It's now a new week, and that means new "50 Shades of Grey" casting rumors. Those concerning Lawrence and Pettyfer have burned out, but others surrounding longtime candidates Ian Somerhalder and Emilia Clarke have resurfaced. It's a never-ending cycle.
Somerhalder's role in his latest project, "Time Framed," has earned him some "50 Shades" brownie points. Although his agent character is far off from the sex-crazed Christian, Somerhalder still looks better than ever in his suit and tie, proving that he's fit for the role of Mr. Grey. In Anastasia news, fans have dedicated an entire "50 Shades" Facebook page to Clarke, proving that she will not be forgotten as a potential Ana. Other starlets such as Nina Dobrev and Lucy Hale have topped fan polls, but Clarke remains one of the forerunners. Some even think she'd be the perfect Anastasia for Somerhalder.
"Ian Somerhalder and Emilia Clarke are and will always be my Christian and Ana =D" writes one avid fan on Clarke's "50 Shades" Facebook page. One fan even took it step further and made a "50 Shades" trailer starring Clarke and Somerhalder. Check it out below.
