While it's still a ways off, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 already has the rumor mills churning. According to a new report, it seems that Samsung has three prototypes in the works.

Reliable Samsung-centered website SamMobile states that they received the information from one of their unnamed "insiders." It seems that one of the prototypes is based off the Galaxy S4 design, another one has a yet-unspecified design, and there's apparently one floating around with a flexible display. The flexible display version, however, has many doubters, who point to supply chain issues that might keep such a handset from being a viable release.

"Let's hope Samsung could solve the problem and use the flexible display design as LG wants to bring their own smartphone at the end of the year with such a display," SamMobile notes.

Nothing about the Galaxy Note 3 has been confirmed by Samsung, and readers should take any information about the device with a healthy dose of skepticism. Samsung released the Galaxy Note 2 in the fall of 2012, and there's a good chance the company will launch the Galaxy Note 3 during the same timeframe. The handset is even said to be making its debut in Berlin in September.

Rumored specs include a 5.9-inch display, an eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor and 2GB RAM. The phablet should also sport the now-industry standard of a rear-facing camera capable of taking 13-megapixel stills. Expect the latest version of Android to be installed right out of the box and the iconic S Pen stylus.

Does Samsung's Galaxy Note series interest you? Or are you more attracted to traditional smartphones such as the Galaxy S or iPhone?
